350 photos merged into one image using the lighten layer-blending mode in photoshop. I’ve done several timelapses of this barn, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the lights on at night. I would have liked to walk out further into the field to line up the north star with the barn, but I was in a rush as I was holding up my friends from going out to get dinner.

8 Minutes of the Earth’s Rotation
How I wish our planet’s movement was this apparent while staring at the night sky. It could probably make a lot more people realize just how tiny we are compared to this vast unexplored galaxy above our heads.
This is a stack of 70 pictures with a 5 second exposure each at ISO 3200 and f/2.2.

“world of averages” - composite images culled from thousands of individual portraits resulting in symmetrical average faces

The Philippines one kinda looked like Lea Salonga to me at first glance

Rare “Pinapple” Opal

“Opal Pseudomorphs are created by the deposition of opal in casts (molds) of fossil bone, teeth, shell, belemnoids (ancient relatives of cuttlefish), crinoids (sea lillies), wood, fir cones and even skeletons of large prehistoric animals. Many of these fossilized forms contain exceptional quality noble opal. White Cliffs is the only place where these marvelous (and very rare) pseudomorphic “pineapple” opals have been found. They were formed when a mineral crystal of glauberite (or ikalite) was first replaced by calcite and then opalised.”
